Washington, DC – December 8-9, 2011...George Washington University, the UN Global Compact US Network, and the US Institute of Peace will host a 1.5-day conference on practical approaches to implementing the Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights (the GPs). The conference will be held...in Foggy Bottom, Washington, DC. Participants will hear from leading corporate executives who will describe their efforts to implement the GPs, discuss how it relates to the UN Global Compact and other voluntary initiatives, and then examine how the company monitors its efforts, trains staff, and revises its policies. Each panel will also include an NGO representative to provide further feedback...We will also invite US government officials...The 3 sponsors aim to facilitate a concrete discussion of real world examples of how companies implement the Guiding Principles and other human rights norms...
