Participants of this meeting included...two members of the United Nations Working Group on the use of mercenaries...Amnesty International – UK Section, Amnesty International – International Secretariat, Business & Human Rights Resource Centre, FIDH, Global Witness, Human Rights Watch, International Alert, Union Network International, War on Want...Points raised by participants in the final round of remarks included: Ongoing cooperation between the Working Group and the UN Special Representative on business and human rights (Professor John Ruggie) would be helpful...International instruments defining corporate complicity are being developed and many organizations agreed that clearer definitions of PMSCs’ obligations should be incorporated into these instruments...There is a need to ensure that freedom of association and the right of employees to form trade unions is respected in practice by all PMSCs.
