[DOC] “Blooming Conversations on Responsible Business” [Kenya]

A large proportion of women work in agricultural production chains, more so the cut flower sector. Labour practices across the production chain have revealed that women workers are particularly vulnerable. There are numerous opportunities for advancing the livelihood of workers in the cut flower sector, in a manner that is in step with increased profitability for flower sector entrepreneurs...Under the banner of the Women@Work Campaign, a cross-sectoral, collaborative initiative on CSR will be convened at the International Flower Trade Expo (IFTEX) on June 5th 2014, with the goal of re-committing the flower sector and broader corporate sector to a common ambition towards responsible business practices. The specific objectives of the forum include: a)To initiate dialogue among industry stakeholders for the improvement of workplace conditions for women in the cut flower sector; b) To discuss the business case for CSR; c) To showcase best corporate practices in social responsibility the cut flower sector.
