Hello! Welcome to the Resource Centre.

We hope you find our free tools and resources useful. Did you know we also work directly with community advocates, providing them with the skills and resources to document corporate human rights abuses and effectively communicate with business?

This is only possible through generous donations from people like you.

Please consider supporting our work.

Thank you,
Phil Bloomer, Executive Director

Resource Centre mission to Bangladesh, June 2011

In June 2011 our South Asia Researcher Harpreet Kaur (based in Delhi) and trustee Mila Rosenthal spent a week in Dhaka in Bangladesh.  You can watch their short video reports on the mission here.

The purpose of the Resource Centre’s regional research missions like this one is to gather information on business & human rights issues, which we can then help bring to a global and influential audience.  The mission focused largely on labour rights in the textile, construction and shipbreaking industries, and on environmental pollution.

Harpreet and Mila met with local activists; NGOs; business organizations; companies; journalists; and representatives from the UN Global Compact and UNICEF (see list below).  They encouraged people to send us allegations of abuses and examples of positive steps that companies are taking in Bangladesh.  They also let companies know that we invite them to respond to concerns raised about their conduct.

Onthe mission, Harpreet and Mila met with representatives of the following organizations:

Alternative Movement for Resources and Freedom Society

Bangladesh Environmental Lawyers Association (BELA)

Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association
