EEOC alleges disability discrimination at Georgia Power [USA]

The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) filed a lawsuit Monday against Georgia Power Co. alleging the Southern Co. unit discriminated against employees and applicants because of their disabilities. The EEOC suit claims Georgia Power violated federal law by not allowing employees to return to work after receiving treatment. EEOC also alleges Georgia Power refused to hire applicants because of their disabilities or because it perceived them as disabled…Georgia Power told Atlanta Business Chronicle it is reviewing the EEOC announcement.
