EEOC: Jones Apparel, Nine West to settle harassment suit [USA]

Jones Apparel Group Inc. and its Nine West Footwear Corp. unit have agreed to pay $600,000 to settle a lawsuit over alleged harassment by managers at Nine West's White Plains, N.Y., headquarters, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission said Monday... In a lawsuit filed in federal court in New York in 2004, the EEOC alleged that women in the White Plains office were subjected to sexual harassment, including solicitations for sex, sexually explicit jokes and inappropriate touching by a male manager. Hispanic employees also were subjected to a hostile work environment based on their national origin, the EEOC alleged.
