EEOC Sues Kaiser Permanente For Disability [Subscription required]

The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission [EEOC] filed a disability discrimination lawsuit Wednesday against Kaiser Permanente, accusing the insurer of illegally firing a food service worker after he requested an accommodation for his disability. The EEOC accused Kaiser of violating Title I of the Americans with Disabilities Act [ADA] when it fired him after failing to provide him with supplemental training to help him perform his job duties. “Defendants discriminated against David Grandin on the basis of his disability when they failed to provide a reasonable accommodation to Grandin’s known limitations,” the complaint says…EEOC initially attempted to convince Kaiser to comply with the ADA through informal methods of conciliation, conference and persuasion, but these attempts were not successful, according to the complaint…Kaiser Permanente said in statement Wednesday that it complies with the ADA and denied the allegations…
