Rivers State lawmakers have expressed displeasure with some oil companies operating in the state over their alleged discriminatory attitude towards Rivers people…the state House of Assembly Speaker has constituted a five-man committee to investigate Elf Petroleum Nigeria Ltd, a subsidiary of Total, for alleged discrimination...A Total team led by the General Manager of Human Resources...was in the Assembly in response to a motion…alleging that their company, after congratulating an indigene of the state from Emohua Local Government for passing her tests, refused to invite her for interview...Hon. Henry Ogiri (Abua/Odual) alleged that he was a victim of such discriminatory practices by the company…[and] said the company must be investigated…[for having] an agenda to not only deny Rivers people employment but edge out those already employed.
