EU warning on auto emissions

The European Union warned automakers Tuesday that it would introduce legislation to enforce cuts in carbon dioxide emissions if the industry did not work harder to meet voluntary pollution-cutting targets...The European Automobile Manufacturers Association pledged to keep working on the problem, but it also called on policy makers to create tax incentives to prod consumers to buy less- polluting cars...PSA Peugeot Citroën said the company felt it was too soon to speak about new laws because the voluntary targets applied to 2008.
