Implementing effective due diligence: international insights for the German debate

The German Supply Chain Due Diligence Act (LkSG) establishes minimum standards for human rights and environmental due diligence by companies. Relying on checklists, contract clauses, and standardised inquiries only partially fulfils these requirements. Most importantly, these measures fail to drive sustainable change towards more socially and environmentally responsible business practices.

What is needed to meet legal requirements while simultaneously implementing due diligence for the benefit of rights holders and companies? Over the course of the 12 years since the adoption of the United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, companies, civil society, and other global actors have gained experience in implementing corporate due diligence. In the webinar, we aim to share experiences and provide insights on the following questions: What changes are needed within companies to appropriately meet due diligence expectations? Which strategies and lessons learned can companies apply when implementing the LkSG? How do due diligence requirements relate to broader sustainability goals?

We look forward to discussing these and other questions with you on September 19, 2023, from 14:00 to 15:00 (CET).
