Towards a roadmap for investor action on human rights: UNGPs 10+ & B-Tech dialogue with civil society
In turn, the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights’ B-Tech project aims to enhance the quality of implementation of the UNGPs across a number of strategic focus areas in the digital technology space, including by providing tailored guidance on responsible investment throughout the lifecycle of technology companies.
Together, both projects seek to address the roles and responsibilities of institutional investors in advancing respect for human rights throughout their investment value chains.
- Provide a platform for direct dialogue between the UN projects and civil society organizations working in the areas of responsible investment, sustainable finance, and human rights;
- Identify and discuss civil society perspectives on: (1) opportunities, challenges, and gaps for advancing responsible and accountable investment; (2) practical examples related to human rights policies, processes, and practices within the investment community; and (3) priorities and recommendations for driving responsible investment practices in the next decade; and
- Gather civil society input and recommendations on UN B-Tech’s guidance for investing responsibly throughout the lifecycle of technology companies.
The first part of the agenda will focus broadly on responsible investment across issues and sectors. The last 30-minutes will focus narrowly on investment practices in the digital technology space.
