Food for thought

An ideal solution...would be to explore ways..to reduce food wastage and to provide food for those in need. This is where the business sector can play a role. Companies who are involved in food production or catering industry could, and some already do, donate their unsold food to those in need as part of their community investment. This would help...to address the issue of hunger and food insecurity in Hong Kong...In Hong Kong, the Pret A Manger works with Green2greener (G2G), to...ensure that at the end of each day, as many of their fresh, natural goods as possible are redirected to where it is needed most...The Foodlink Foundation, an NGO, also collects surplus and donated food from various hotels (Island Shangri-La, Grand Hyatt Hotel, Hong Kong Gold Coast Hotel) and food and beverage outlets (Maxim Group, Petite Amanda, Sift Desserts, The Brunch Club) and works with partner agencies...to deliver it to the needy.
