France: Formal notice sent to Teleperformance re. compliance with Duty of Vigilance Law amid reports of human rights violations; Incl. co response

In July 2019, French NGO Sherpa and UNI Global Union formally put Teleperformance on notice that it must comply with its duty of vigilance regarding human rights. Both organisations filed the warning because they do not believe Teleperformance’s vigilance plan meets the minimum requirements of the French Law on the Duty of Vigilance, which requires large French companies to identify the risks of violations of human rights and fundamental freedoms in their global operations and to provide appropriate measures to prevent such violations.

Sherpa and UNI Global Union have formally demanded that Teleperformance strengthen its vigilance standards and procedures and stated if the company does not take appropriate measures within the next three months, including involving trade unions as stakeholders, they may take a court action where the company could be ordered to comply with its obligations under the law.

We invited Teleperformance to respond to the formal notice sent by UNI Global Union and Sherpa regarding their compliance with  France's Duty of Vigilance Law. It said it is committed to guaranteeing respect for the rights of its employees, and that it is working closely with stakeholders to publish an enhanced vigilance plan next September. The full response is included below.
