French Polynesia: Strike against Intercontinental hotels underway over dismissal of four employees for alleged rape

"Strike underway in French Polynesia at 4 luxury hotels", 29 November 2019

A strike is underway at French Polynesia's four Intercontinental hotels over the sacking of four employees in Moorea.

After inconclusive negotiations...six unions have joined the stoppage, which had already been started at the Intercontinental Hotel in Moorea.

However, reports say only few hotel staff have stopped work.

The four staff were dismissed...after a female employee alleged they had raped her....

However, a police investigation has since failed to establish any wrongdoing and the case has been closed.

The hotel is refusing to re-employ them while the unions say their dismissal is unacceptable.
