Ghana: Ayamfuri residents clash with Perseus Mining Company

Residents of Ayanfuri in the Central region have clashed with workers of the Perseus Mining company in the area over the company's refusal to cede part of its concession for small-scale mining... 

Violence broke out and they attacked one of our workers. they have burnt down one of our vehicles, the VIP buses. They have burnt down one of our military barracks. We are in a total lock down...”, he said.

The aggrieved worker further mentioned that the firm had earlier on assured residents that they are open to dialogue... 

Meanwhile, Police in the Central region have deployed personnel to ensure security in the area.
