Google's search for renewable energy

Google announced today that it would spend "hundreds of millions" of dollars developing a range of green technologies including solar and wind power as part of a push into the renewable energy market… The company said it would hire new staff to do research and development at a renewable energy unit, called REC… "If large-scale renewable deployments are cheaper than coal, the world will have the option to meet a substantial portion of electricity needs from renewable sources and significantly reduce carbon emissions," Larry Page, one of Google's co-founders, said… Google's philanthropic arm, Google.org, has in the past sponsored green energy initatives
