The state's environmental management inspectorate has named [ArcelorMittal South Africa, Highveld Steel and Vanadium (part of Anglo American), Assmang]...as serious transgressors of environmental laws and permits, all three of which are ISO14001 certified...Spokesperson Mava Scott said: "Many of the operating companies are extremely profitable multinationals who have access to all the information and resources they require to come into compliance with environmental legislation. It appears that they have chosen to disregard their obligations."...Highveld [Steel and Vanadium]...would not comment.
