Guatemala: Human rights defender promoting indigenous peoples´ rights against mining & other cases receives death threats

Human rights defender, Pedro Rafael Maldonado, working at the NGO Legal, Environmental and Social Action Centre of Guatemala (CALAS) recently received death threats. The lawyer works in the legal defense of indigenous communities opposing mining projects, as well as in other cases related to human rights abuses and environmental issues.
