Heritage Hills to pay $60,000 in back wages, fines for labor violations [USA]

Heritage Hills Golf Resort and Conference Center agreed to pay $55,353 in back wages to 219 workers following a U.S. Department of Labor investigation...between February 2009 and February 2011, [which] disclosed violations related to minimum wage, overtime, record-keeping and child labor laws...In a written statement, Matt DeRose, owner of Heritage Hills, said the company was just "doing what employees want versus what government mandates."...Heritage Hills Association...failed to pay employees for all hours worked and paid some workers less than the federal minimum wage...Five minors were required to work more than hourly limitations established for 14- and 15- year old employees.
