HIV laws fight discrimination [Fiji]

The recently passed HIV/AIDS Decree will assure persons who are HIV positive are not discriminated against by companies offering insurance and superannuation packages. This was confirmed by former High Court judge Nazhat Shameem who was a facilitator at an awareness workshop on the decree...Prior to the provision...there were no laws specifically preventing insurance companies from discriminating against persons with HIV/AIDS...Guideline Five of the International Guidelines on HIV/AIDS and Human Rights...specify the requirements for anti-discrimination and protective laws...
