Honduras: Garifuna people face charges for defending land where Indura Beach & Golf Resort tourism complex is located –Trust Hospitality responds‏

In the 80's, speculation around the value of land in Bahía de Tela, Honduras increased, as did threats and assassinations against those opposing tourism complexes. Currently, members of the Garifuna community are facing charges for invading the land in Barra Vieja, Tela, Atlántida. The land is the property of Empresa Nacional Portuaria. The luxury hotel Indura Beach & Golf Resort, one of the destinations of Trust Hospitality, is located in this zone of conflict. Garifuna people claim that the land is part of their ancestral territory. Business & Human Rights Resource Centre invited Trust Hospitality to respond to these allegations - response provided below.
