Hospital Laundry Workers Set to Strike Over Safety, Pay, Benefits [USA]

Workers at the nation's largest health care laundry service are set to strike Thursday to protest unsanitary and unsafe working conditions...The union, UNITE HERE, said...that workers at Angelica Textile Services are regularly exposed to hepatitis B and AIDS/HIV...Last month...a company spokesperson [said]...Angelica is "somewhat surprised the union made us a target for a corporate campaign." The company’s president and CEO, Steve O’Hare, is reported to have said UNITE HERE intends on "maligning Angelica to our employees, customers, shareholders and anyone else who would listen."
