Human Rights Director
- Location: San Francisco or Paris
- Closing Date: 10/05/2019
BSR is seeking a Human Rights Director to lead its human rights practice. Working with a human rights team of around 15 staff, the Director will lead the creation and implementation of a human rights strategy at BSR that is aligned with three key elements of BSR’s overall strategy:
Tools and Services: The Human Rights Director will ensure that BSR’s human rights due diligence and access to remedy tools and services are based on rigorous human rights-based methodologies and implement them through high-impact project work with BSR member companies.
Redefining Sustainable Business: The world around us is changing more rapidly than ever before, with massive implications for how companies respect human rights. The Human Rights Director will design innovative new approaches to help companies identify their potentially adverse human rights impacts of the future and put in place effective plans to mitigate them.
Building Powerful Collaborations: The Human Rights Director will lead BSR’s Human Rights Working Group and oversee BSR’s growing portfolio of human rights collaborative initiatives in areas such as human trafficking, LGBTI equality, and technology.
BSR is a highly collaborative organization. The Human Rights Director will collaborate extensively with BSR’s industry leads to ensure that high-impact project engagements are tailored to the needs of different sectors, and with the practice leads of BSR’s five other areas of expertise (Sustainability Management, Supply Chain, Women’s Empowerment, Inclusive Economy, Climate Change) to maximize synergy.
