India: Govt. and embassies fail to record details of thousands of migrant deaths in Gulf countries

"Invisible Migrant Workers Dying of 'Natural Causes in 'Arabian Gulf'," 3 Apr 2020

33,930 Indians who passed away between January 2014 and October 2019... in the Arab Gulf... a majority of deaths in the region were caused by cardiac arrests and related causes....

The Indian government, however, appears to have no idea how seemingly healthy young and middle-aged workers were dying from heart and respiratory failures... the ministry of external affairs and Indian embassies... had not conducted any research or investigations into the deaths...

apart from the annual death toll, the Indian government has consistently denied any access to details about who these people were, how old they were, where they were employed and how they died...

Indian embassies [in the Gulf] were even less forthcoming.
