A West Australian government department, a mining company and the Esperance Port Authority failed to protect residents of the coastal town from lead pollution, an inquiry has found... A parliamentary inquiry...[resulted in a report that stated] "...regulatory failures, combined with the irresponsible and possibly unlawful conduct of the Esperance Port Authority, Magellan Metals Pty Ltd [part of Ivernia], and BIS Industrial Logistics [part of Industrial Services Australia], exposed workers and the community to unacceptable and avoidable health and environmental risks..."
