Ivanhoe Criticizes Myanmar Crackdown Amid Mine Sale

Ivanhoe Mines Ltd. criticized a government crackdown on pro-democracy protesters in Myanmar, where the company is trying to sell its 50 percent stake in the Monywa copper mine. ``Many years of discussions within Myanmar about constitutional change now appear to be jeopardized by the reactions of the state that threaten to set back, rather than advance, human rights and democratic ideals,'' Vancouver-based Ivanhoe said today in a statement.
