Japan: Expert group recommends human rights for 2020 Tokyo Olympics theme

In April 2015, the Group of Experts for Sustainable Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games sought public comment on proposed sustainability themes for the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games. The comments received showed strong public interest in human rights issues, with the largest number of respondents citing the theme "Creating a Society that Lives and Works Together with Cultural and Religious Diversity, and Tackles Labour and Human Rights Issues" as one of the most important amongst the eight proposed themes.
