In December 2015, the management of Japan Airlines informed the Cabin Crew Union that it would abandon its practice of hiring cabin attendants on an irregular basis for the first three years of their employment, and would award all cabin attendants regular contracts. The Union announced that they would continue to demand that the company provide regular contracts for all employees.
