The suicide of an employee of Dentsu, the advertising giant, was recognised by the Japanese labour authorities as being work related. Records show that he had worked 105 hours of overtime over the month immediately before her suicide - far more than the maximum of 70 hours overtime agreed to by the labour union and management of Dentsu.
