BankTrack is the international tracking, campaigning and civil society support organisation targeting private sector commercial banks and the activities they finance. Our mission is to challenge banks globally to act urgently, decisively, and in a just manner on the accelerating climate crisis, the ongoing destruction of nature and the widespread violation of human rights.

BankTrack’s Banks and Human Rights Campaign team works to ensure that commercial banks respect their internationally recognised human rights responsibilities across the breadth of their operations, both by strengthening their human rights policies and by ceasing to finance companies and projects that cause severe human rights abuses.

Since 2024, BankTrack’s Human Rights Campaign has encompassed a Banks and Conflict Zones project, focusing on commercial banks which operate in or are financially linked to companies/projects operating in conflict zones.

As part of this project, BankTrack works with civil society partners on pressing issues around the globe: we have investigated bank finance for companies supporting the military regime in Myanmar, exposed banks’ financial links to Israeli illegal settlements and occupation, and launched a campaign and advocacy project calling for banks to fully exit Russia following its full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

We are now launching a project, fully funded for 12 months, to expand our Banks and Conflict Zones project into a programme including a pilot policy benchmark, campaign work to stop problematic bank “Dodgy Deals”; and movement building. As such, we are now recruiting a Researcher and Campaigner who will work closely with the Banks and Human Rights campaign team to lead on delivery of this work.
