The Business & Human Rights Resource Centre is at a critical point in its development. Our digital platform is home to a wealth of information on business and human rights, but hasn’t had a visual refresh for a number of years.

We will soon be updating the site to improve its usability and better serve the thousands of people that use our site to support their work.

Programme Director - DRC at International Alert

Alert is recruiting for a Programme Director for the DRC. The post will be based in Bukavu, DRC with frequent travel within the DRC and occasionally within the region and to London.

Working closely with Alert’s AP, including the Great Lakes Manager, and with other Alert departments, you will take on active role in broader regional strategy and cross-programmatic activities.You will be responsible for ensuring that Alert’s contribution to peacebuilding in the DRC is maximised, by taking responsibility for sound project management of a portfolio of projects (through line management of Project Managers) and supporting relationship building and maintaining visibility for the programme, contributing to raising funds and recruiting new staff when necessary.

Educated to higher degree or equivalent experience in a relevant subject you will have substantial NGO project management experience in various conflict-affected environments, including responsibility for strategy design, staffing, admin/finance issues, contract management and donor relations.  You will be able to demonstrate success in leading peacebuilding-related programmes, and familiarity with conflict-sensitive approaches to development. Excellent working knowledge (spoken, written and read) of both French and English is also essential.

Contract: One year with the possibility of extension

Salary: £44,367 per annum (with additional benefits including accommodation, relocation package, annual flight back home and medical insurance cover for expatriate staff)
