Trustee at RAID

RAID is seeking two new Trustees who will bring experience of operational finances and a strong track record on corporate accountability in Africa or internationally to advise, guide and support the organisation.

You will be joining at an exciting time as we achieve lasting impact, raise our profile and position ourselves as a key partner in holding corporations accountable in landmark cases across Africa and in the Global North where companies are often based.

We are a welcoming board of six Trustees, each with a key area or areas of expertise including law, media and fundraising. Collectively we are passionate about the work, have huge respect for the team and are activists at heart.

The board is responsible for advising the Executive Director on the strategic direction of RAID, assessing financial health, developing robust policies for the growing team, as well as providing leadership and support to the staff. Trustees have ultimate responsibility for RAID’s governance ensuring it delivers its charitable objectives.

RAID is specifically looking for one Trustee who can bring financial management skills to the board, helping to guide and support the strategic management of the organisations’s finances. For the second opening, RAID seeks a Trustee who brings African experience of corporate accountability, law, human rights and/or environmental rights. It is not essential to have sat on a board before. In fact, RAID actively encourages those who are passionate about its work and will bring new perspectives.

This is a voluntary role requiring attendance at three to four board meetings (in Zoom or in person), time to scrutinise papers, and occasional board or staff retreats to discuss strategy.
