Villagers around Mwabulambo coal mine in Karonga have accused operators of the mine, Eland Coal Mine Company (ECM), of failing to provide the developments they promised in a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) the two parties signed. He said by February 2014, half of the stakeholders that were supposed to relocate still occupied land which was compensated for, adding that by May, five percent had still not moved.
