Kenya: Carrefour bans shopper who racially abused a local at one of its retail outlets

"Carrefour supermarket bans racist shopper from its Nairobi stores"

French retail giant has slapped a ban on a white woman who racially abused a Kenyan woman and threw her shopping on the floor at the hub in Karen. Wangu wa Muendo had narrated on social media how she was racially abused by the woman at the Carrefour supermarket. Ms Muendo claimed the supermarket's management refused to come to her aid during the incident.

...Carrefour...[has now] acknowledged that an incident occurred between two of their customers. This was confirmed by a review of the CCTV footage at The Hub store. "We are disturbed by what we saw and heard. As a result, we met with the affected customer and assured her of our support in resolving this matter through the official channels...At Carrefour, we do not condone racism or any other form of discrimination, at any time or in any of our locations. The instigator of the incident is no longer welcome at any of Carrefour stores in Kenya", [a statement from the supermarket read.]
