Kenya govt. clears Somali-based money transfer service Dahabshil after suspension due to alleged terrorism link

"We are Fully Satisfied that Dahabshil is Compliant and Poses No Risk” Government of Kenya "

An official Kenyan Government Gazette notice has given Dahabshil Kenya's compliance systems a clean bill of health. The Gazette officially removes Dahabshil Kenya from the government's list, published earlier this year, of people and businesses that were to be investigated in order to ensure they had no links to terrorist groups or activities.

The Cabinet Secretary for the Interior General...confirmed that Dahabshil Kenya has shown cause why it should not be listed as a specified entity, as it abides by all stipulated conditions for licensed remittance providers active in Kenya...

The delisting follows the Central Bank of Kenya's move to lift the suspension on Dahabshil Kenya in June after it had suspended the operations of all licensed remittance providers on 7 April 2015. Chief Executive Officer of Dahabshil Group, Abdirashid Duale, said: "The formal delisting absolutely clears Dahabshil Kenya of any wrongdoing. The Kenyan authorities are fully satisfied that Dahabshil Kenya has no involvement whatsoever with the funding of terrorist organizations and complies fully with all international regulations and industry best practice.
