Laos and lenders study giant dam project

...Laos is coming under global scrutiny as international business groups and its communist Government debate the viability of a huge power project...The developer of the project is international consortium Nam Theun 2 Power Company (NTPC), in which EDFI, the global arm of French state-owned Electricite de France, holds a 35 per cent stake. The Lao Government and Thailand's Electricity Generating Public Company hold a 25 per cent stake each in the project, while another 15 per cent equity came from the joint venture Italian-Thai Development Public Co.
