...In 2020, the generation of non-conventional renewable sources increased from 8% of electricity demand in January to 12.7% in October; the immediate objective established in Law 27191 for the promotion of the sector is that by the end of 2021 the share reaches 16%. This growth had no significant impact on the composition of primary sources, where fossil fuels represent around 90% and non-conventional renewables around 1%...The 83 projects favoured by these promotion programmes that entered the market account for more than half of the generation capacity of non-conventional renewable sources. On this scale, the promotion scheme has had a considerable impact, even though the construction of a third of the parks and power plants is delayed and may not prosper...In this context, companies in the agro-industrial and electro-intensive sector have become interested in the development of non-conventional renewable sources, which raises questions about the possible impacts of the new link between massive food production and energy generation, and also renews the question: “energy for what?”…
