Cambodia: After raid operations to rescue over 1,000 people, 25 foreigners questioned at court on illegal online gambling charges

25 foreigners have been sent to court, after a major raid on a compound in Kampong Speu province ...

The foreigners – mainly Chinese – were questioned at the Phnom Penh Municipal Court in connection with the case of illegal online gambling.

They were arrested after a raid that detained more than 1000 people … at a location on National Road 3 between km 32 in Doeum Angkor village, Ang Popel commune, Kong Pisey district, Kampong Speu Province.

According to a report from the site, this large-scale operation was carried out by a specialized police force led by Lt. Gen. Di Vichea, Deputy Commissioner of the National Police.

Specialized forces detained more than 1,000 multi-ethnic foreigners, mostly Chinese and Koreans and searched for evidence of illegal activities in the compound.
