Cambodia: Govt., employers and unions to negotiate minimum wages for 2022 for garment workers

The National Council on Minimum Wage (NCMW) will begin negotiating the 2022 minimum wages for workers in the textile, garment and footwear sectors in September, according to Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training spokesman Heng Sour.

Union leaders are scheduled to hold an internal meeting to discuss their strategy and requests. Labor Ministry spokesman Heng Sour confirmed the meeting will start in September of the second week. Attendees include those from the Garment Manufacturer’s Association in Cambodia (GMAC), unions, and the Ministry.

The minimum wage in the sector in 2021 is $192 per month.
