On 9 December 2025, during the ongoing strike at Shenzhen's Yilisheng factory by female workers which make up the vast majority of the work force, authorities detained two key strikers amid escalating tensions as police attempted to disperse protesting workers. That evening, over a thousand enraged workers blockaded the factory gates until the authorities released the detained leaders later that night. Shenzhen Yilisheng Technology Co., Ltd. is owned by Huaqin Technology produces electronic technology for Apple, amongst other companies.

The Business and Human Rights Centre invited Shenzhen Yilisheng Technology Co., Ltd., Huaqin Technology and Apple to respond; they did not.
