In the case of Lanzhou, we work very closely with our partner, Lanzhou Municipality...The Joint Venture has always followed the GB5749-2006 standard, testing the water for benzene since the law was implemented in July 2007. Besides, the Joint Venture's...laboratory...was critical in the prompt detection of the benzene. From the first discovery... to the presentation of the results to the local authorities, the Joint Venture has been very proactive. Before the authorities responded, the Joint Venture immediately stepped in with the addition of activated carbon, which neutralized the pollution in the water. The water supply was quickly returned to normal. Until this incident, no presence of benzene above the regulated limit has ever been found in water supplied by the Lanzhou Veolia Water Joint Venture...
