On September 7, 2020, activist of the environmental group Khmer Thavrak Eng Malai, was arrested after attending a peaceful assembly to demand the release of labour rights activist and trade union leader Mr. Rong Chhun and other imprisoned human rights defenders. According to local news, she was followed by police from the protest, which was eventually prevented by police, and arrested after leaving the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner on Human Rights (OHCHR) in Phnom Penh.
