Get Ready for War: Hausfeld Sues 9 Companies Over Radioactive Contamination

Hausfeld on Wednesday launched what is likely to be a massive fight, suing nine companies including energy giant Exelon Corp. over radioactive contamination stemming from the Manhattan Project...“[R]adioactive material, negligently dumped in an area surrounded by peaceful neighborhoods and playgrounds, has tormented the lives of everyday people,”...The plaintiffs allege that the companies misled people in the St. Louis area about widespread contamination dating back to the Manhattan Project...It’s filed on behalf of one family, Michael and Robbin Dailey.  They claim toxic radioactive waste improperly stored for years in a nearby landfill has diminished the value of their Bridgeton, Missouri home...“It’s a community-wide public health issue,” he said. “We’re doing the investigation in the community for various business and homeowners.” He confirmed that the firm is representing other potential plaintiffs who have yet to file suit...Consider another radiation contamination suit, a class action brought by homeowners who live downwind of the former Rocky Flats nuclear weapons plant in Colorado.   The suit settled in May for $375 million—after 26 years of litigation...[Subscription required]
