Government urged to investigate Bogoso Gold Limited shooting incident [Ghana]

Wassa Association of Communities Affected by Mining (WACAM) has called on the Government to institute independent investigations into the Bogoso Gold Limited [part of Golden Star Resources] shooting incident. Seven people...received gunshot wounds during a demonstration by communities of the Bogoso Gold Limited catchment area...WACAM said: "The dumping of mine waste had created many problems for the communities especially when mine waste dump had been created very close to the Prestea Government Hospital...Despite the numerous complaints of the people on the negative impacts of mining, nobody listened and resolved the problems...[Business & Human Rights Resource Centre invited Golden Star to respond to the allegations.
