The Project [Panan Hydroelectric Power] is at final stages of geological investigations and the construction works of the Project are likely to start shortly...The only activity that is going on at present in the project site is ‘Geo Investigations & Topographical surveys’, where all the required statutory clearances and approvals already obtained by us...the Company has made 80 per cent payment of land compensation to the land owners and the remaining 20 per cent payment would also be released soon...It is wrong to say that the Lepcha community is against the Panan Project.
