Defensores en linea

Luís Almendares was an independent journalist from Comayagua, Honduras, who investigated topics of corruption in public and private institutions as well as human rights violations. He published information about the Industrial Chamber of Commerce in Comayagua and the behaviour of businessmen in the city. This activity resulted in the businessmen pressuring the journalist to reveal his sources of information. Due to his research and journalistic work, he received threats and attacks which he had reported but which have not been investigated.

On 27th September 2020 he was shot, taken to hospital and passed away the next day. The Inter-American Human Rights Commission demands that the case is investigated and the reason for his killing is clarified.
