The publication provides practical guidance for companies to identify, prevent, mitigate, and address adverse human rights impacts across their operations and supply chains …

The Guideline outlines a six-step Human Rights Due Diligence process and covers thirteen priority human rights issues relevant to businesses in Indonesia. Rather than serving as a compliance checklist, the publication encourages companies to embed respect for human rights into their decision-making and day-to-day operations through a risk-based approach.

The publication is particularly timely as the Ministry of Human Rights prepares a regulatory framework that is expected to gradually introduce mandatory Human Rights Due Diligence (HRDD), starting with companies employing more than 2,000 workers from 2028 onwards. The Guideline is intended to help businesses prepare for this transition by strengthening their internal policies and due diligence processes.

Through FNF’s support for workshops and international dialogues, FNF has sought to facilitate a meaningful bridge between regulators, the private sector and civil society … to support the creation of guidelines which are relevant to the local context while aligning with global benchmarks. Developed through consultations with government institutions, businesses, academia, civil society organizations, and practitioners, the Guidelines reflect a shared commitment to advancing a business ecosystem where economic freedom and individual dignity are mutually reinforcing.
