Amid a dispute over unpaid construction fees related to the Osaka-Kansai Expo, French firm GL Events Japan has been sued by three Japanese subcontractors, who claim the company failed to pay a total of more than 570 million yen (worth approximately $3.8 million USD) for construction work.

GL Events Japan, however, has filed counter-lawsuits against the three companies, insisting that “no such debt exists” and asserting that “we are not the villains.”

The company stated that it would not comment on ongoing litigation, saying, “We leave the matter in the hands of the Japanese judicial system.”
