Japan: New guidelines finally outlaw "maternity discrimination"

The Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare has distributed new guidelines stating that any measure taken by a company against the interests of an employee within one year of her having returned from maternity leave will be deemed illegal. The new guidelines are in response to a verdict of the Supreme Court in October 2014.
