...[A]nother large-scale logging is taking place near the city - along the Kuldzhinsky tract - for the construction of the Big Almaty Ring Road (BAKAD). Everything seems to be according to laws: there is permit for construction, and the forest pathology has been carried out, also the compensatory planting envisaged planting of 4752 young trees in place of the logged 1584. But the environmentalists claim that the real number of trees that will be cut is about 20 thousand. And compensatory planting should be in the amount of not one to three, but one to ten trees.
...[T]he forest is poetically called the "green lungs of the planet." It turns out that a couple of more such construction projects and the southern capital will be completely without lungs.
